Everything you need to know about Rapikan, its licensing, and how it works under the hood.
Yes! If you are a student, hobbyist, freelancer, or working on open-source projects, Rapikan is completely free forever. There are no paywalls or locked features.
A Rapikan Pro license is legally mandatory for companies that meet ANY of the following criteria: (1) Has more than 5 employees, (2) Has an annual gross revenue exceeding $50,000, or (3) Has received outside funding. The license operates on a Per-Seat basis (1 license per employee using the extension).
Only on the very first run! Rapikan dynamically downloads the official formatting binaries for your specific languages to avoid bloat. Once downloaded, it runs 100% offline.
Rapikan is built natively for VS Code but is fully compatible with its major forks and AI-powered derivatives. This includes Cursor, Windsurf, TRAE, VSCodium, Theia IDE, Positron, Comate, and more. If your IDE supports VS Code extensions (.vsix), Rapikan will work perfectly!
Your code is absolutely safe. Rapikan processes everything strictly on your local machine. There is zero telemetry, zero tracking, and no external servers reading your code. You can verify this yourself using network monitoring tools.
Rapikan currently supports over 50+ languages. If yours is missing, simply open an issue on our GitHub repository, and I'll look into integrating the appropriate formatter in the next update!
